The look of perfectly aged wood is now feasible for any project. With the correct mixture of the right wood treatment and the correct finishing products, creating the warm colours and shades that are so characteristic of aged wood can be done with ease. Now anyone can make new furniture look like it has stood the test of time; a new parquet floor can attain a beautifully authentic, weathered look in no time.

Koate’s Creative Base is a non-reactive stain that designers and craftsmen use, enabling them to combine smoked, fumed and pre-aging effects with One Coat Wood Oil and Wood Varnish 2C, to generate deep, rich colouring with subtle accents. It is these tones that make new flooring, or furniture look artfully weathered. Making the new authentically aged.

Creative Base is a high-quality, non-reactive pre-treatment, available in 10 standard shades. The colour spectrum ranges from a lighter to a darker smoked look, with colours that can be mixed with each other to the variant the customer wants. It is an environmentally friendly stain based on a unique Cellular Saturated Anchoring (CSA) technology containing nano mineral structures and micro-pigments. This technology enables the applicator to apply the stain without overlapping.

HOW DO I PREPARE THE SURFACE?

• Before colouring, surfaces must be carefully prepared. Previous treatments from older surfaces must be removed completely.
• Protect areas that do not need to be treated.
• Sand according to the state of the surface using an abrasive.
• Clean and remove all dust from the surface with a dusting brush.
   

HOW DO I APPLY?

• Shake the product before use and regularly during application.
• Apply generously with spray gun, roller, brush, or floor polisher with a white pad.
• Rub dry using a cloth (not necessary with floor polisher) in the direction of the grain until the colour no longer changes. On rough surfaces (e.g., brushed or sandblasted oak) work the product into the grain with a brush or a cloth in circular movements.
• For a more transparent effect dilute with Koate Creative Base Dilutor.
   

WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO LOOK AFTER MY FINISH?
After drying (24 hours if there is sufficient ventilation), break the raised wood fibres with a floor polisher with red Pad. Vacuum and finish with a colour from the Koate One Coat Wood Oil, One Coat Door Oil, One Coat Worktop Oil or Wood Varnish 2C range.
