Koate Hydroguard is a waterborne protective coating. It has been formulated to be both breathable, and highly-durable, while helping to enhance the dimensional stability and durability of wood. This is achieved by its intelligent composition that imbues the surface of the wood with hydrophobic properties, meaning it will repel water, preventing it from sinking in and causing damp, black mould or rot.

Hydroguard has built-in UV protection, which not all exterior waxes and oils can boast, so will protect your wood come rain or shine. Leaving your surface looking great for longer.

PREPARATION
What is the ideal surface condition to apply the product to?
​Before applying make sure the surface is clean and fully dry.

APPLICATION
What is the best way to apply the product?
HydroGuard can be applied in a multitude of ways depending on your need and preference. Brush, sponge, spray-gun and Vacumat are all great options.

Using a Brush:

• Apply one coat with a brush. Making sure the coat is neat and even, similar to the application of paint.
• Check water-repellence after drying of 48hrs.
• If water-repellence is not sufficient a second layer can be applied.

Using a Sponge:

• Use gloves and dip the sponge into the product. Apply evenly onto the surface.
• Check water-repellence after drying of 24hrs.
• If water-repellence is not sufficient a second application can be applied.
   

Using a Spray-gun:

• Indicative settings: Injection opening 1.6 to 2.2 with a cup-above gun pressure 2 to 3 bar. Use only stainless-steel parts (couplings, seals, etc.)
• Check water-repellence after drying of 24hrs. 4. If water-repellence is not sufficient a second layer can be applied.
   

Using Vacumat:

• Dilute HydroGuard to meet DIN4: 25 sec
• Check water-repellence after 24 hours.
• If water-repellence is not sufficient a second layer can be applied.

Tip: We suggest wearing protective gloves throughout this process as the pigmentation is so strong the colour is hard to get off your hands.

AFTERCARE
What is the best way to clean and maintain the surface after the product has been applied?
7 days after application, the treated surface can be cleaned with water and Koate Soap. This will help keep the surface looking great.

STORAGE

• Store in dry conditions, in original packaging, at a temperature between 5 to 25°C. T
• he product is frost sensitive, use frost-free storage and transport.
• Keep away from direct sunshine.
